ABC - ALWAYS BE CAPTURING

ABC - ALWAYS BE CAPTURING 〰️

Chasing the moments that make life worth paying attention to.

I grew up in rural Maine, making photos and videos for fun. In college, I took a detour into environmental engineering and spent a year in it post-grad, until I listened to my heart (vs. my parents’ desires and societal projection), and realized that creative work and marketing were the move for me.

In candid moments, I am known to press record before anyone else knows exactly why. Once they do, they say, “Wait, how did you know that was gonna happen?”

Perhaps I am a witch. Or just good at anticipating human emotion. Or my finger dexterity is just Olympic-level.

Perhaps all of the above.

Coming up on one year in Utah, I'm manifesting meaningful collaborations with people, companies, and nonprofits that bring joy to the communities around them. Any time I can pair that work with my outdoor interests (backcountry & resort skiing, running, mountain biking, camping, gardening, frolicking, climbing, and more things I’m likely forgetting), I try to. If you have a project that involves any of those things, you know where to find me.

Why ‘Erica’s Empire’

No, this is not a cult [Yet].

Sure, should I change the domain of my website (and, by extension, my creative portfolio) to something less… abrasive? Eh, perhaps. For now, though, I’m keeping it.

Erica’s Empire started as a creative outlet for me. I was an engineer at the time, and this was the ‘world’ I was building out beyond that. The neurodivergent parts of my brain that wanted to do every single creative thing possible all at once needed to design an ‘Empire’ so that the scattered energy felt like it was building the same overarching thing. Some people just call that ‘life’. However, I was hoping for something a bit more dramatic.

An empire is never finished. It expands, shifts, and takes on new territory. Mine has grown from a personal outlet into a full creative practice that keeps me moving, and I’m so happy to have you here along for the journey.

[Lmk if you’re interested in me starting a cult though, seems like I’ve already got a great web domain locked down.]
